Bonuses

A “bonus” is an improvement on a roll of the dice. It often comes in the form of an extra dice (a Free Hero Dice or a bonus damage dice, for example) and less commonly as a numerical addition (“+2”). Bonuses to the same thing are not additive in this system (they don’t “stack”) unless otherwise specified. Only the highest bonus applies on a given roll.

Bonus Damage Dice

A bonus damage dice is an additional iteration of the damage dice of your weapon. If you had a weapon that dealt 1d8 damage and had 1 bonus damage dice, you’d deal 2d8 instead. Bonus damage dice do not stack (unless otherwise noted), instead you use the highest bonus damage dice you have on an attack roll. Bonus damage dice are, specifically, not Hero Dice.

Hero Dice Stack

A Hero Dice stacks with any bonus (other than other Hero Dice).

Deeper Rules

  • Don’t Stack: Bonus damage dice do not stack with other bonuses to damage (numerical or otherwise).
  • You May Pick: In the event where there is some confusion or disagreement over what is the better bonus, the player may choose.

No Stacking Bonuses

Bonuses don’t stack. At all. Period. On any given roll you can add 1 bonus. If you have multiple, you can decide which you prefer.
